School Councillors 2014

I am proud of being a school councillor because my hard work on preparing a speech paid of and because my fellow students and the staff members thought I could be a good school councillor.  My leadership goal this year is to set a good example in everything I do.

Autumn Haiku

WALT write a haiku poem.  I thought this learning was easy.  Having the success criteria there helped me write my Haiku poem.  I think I did well.  Next time I think I should be more descriptive.

My African Praise Poem

African Praise Poem.
How do I feel about myself?
The African culture is steeped in oral tradition, and a Praise Poem, or isibongo  is the traditional way
for Africans to introduce themselves in a new situation.
IALT write a traditional Praise Poem, to introduce myself to the class.
Success Criteria:
I will explore the subject of African praise poetry,
I will take risks, and use imagery to reveal myself in poetic form.
I will follow the structure of a typical African Praise poem.
I will perform my poem to an audience, maybe using drums.
Structure:
Line 1 -       Introducing myself.

Line 2 –           Introduction to my family and heritage.
Line 3 -       Animal metaphor
Line 4 –        Nature metaphor
Line 5 –        Personality and Qualities
Chorus -           Refrain describing my talents, co-written by my peers.

My reflection: In this poem I liked how it was all about us, who we are and the alteration
for my sister but I didn't like how we had to get our classmates to choose our refrain.
Next time I will be more independent with my nature reference and my animal phrase.

Welcome to my Blog

Hi my name is Michael.I'm in room 19 at Elm park school.  My teacher is Mrs Taljaard and we have heaps in common.  I'm doing a blog so that I can post my work and get feedback.  I enjoy writing, tech and all sports.  This year I hope to participate in school councillors, House captains, Digikids and P.E monitors.  I'm looking forward to having lots of visitors and reading your comments.

I'm excited about Camp Merc, graduation and the year 6 dinner and dance.
